Every day we are grateful to work with such beautiful products – and as a florist, you transform these into even more stunning creations! But how does the journey of a flower begin? In this blog, we invite you on an exciting journey: from a small chrysanthemum cutting to a full-fledged flower. We highlight the special story of the “pluischrysant” and show how chrysanthemum breeder Deliflor and grower Arcadia collaborate to bring surprising varieties in color, shape, and versatility to the market. One of Deliflor's strengths is disbudded chrysanthemums. One of the chrysanthemum growers with which Deliflor works a lot is Arcadia Chrysanten. Arcadia specialise in the cultivation and sale of disbudded chrysanthemums. Arcadia contribute ideas about the breeding and identifying suitable varieties. They also carry out tests with selected cultivars, and provide Deliflor with feedback about shapes and colours. This is an excellent collaboration within the supply chain!
Arcadia receive young plants from Deliflor and from other breeders for cultivation. It takes ten weeks to grow a young plant into a cut flower. A spray chrysanthemum has multiple flowers on a stem. With the disbudded chrysanthemum, workers remove all the flowers from the stem apart from one after seven weeks. That single flower that has the opportunity to grow into a large and powerful bloom.
Zentoo is a cooperative and a brand founded in 2007. It is a group of fifteen passionate growers and colleagues. They work hard every day to grow the best flowers. They each have their own nursery, but share knowledge and sales under a single brand name: Zentoo. With one goal: to get everyone to love chrysanthemums as much as they do. And to create Europe’s best quality brand of chrysanthemums. So that it’s easy for you to opt for quality and colourful variety.
The chrysanthemums are harvested and prepared for sale at the growers. The chrysanthemum then continues its journey through wholesalers like us to you, the florist. There the flower is incorporated in a fantastic arrangement or bouquet which the end customer can enjoy for a long time!
