VDE Plant, an abbreviation for Van der Eijk, is the epitome of a family business. With almost 90,000 m² of greenhouse space and a selection of 30 different tropical plant species, they are a well-established tropical plant nursery. Today, the third generation of the Van der Eijk family — Karin and Edwin — lead the company, continuing the long-standing family passion for greenhouse plants alongside their partner Hein Visser.

Hydroponics

An innovative method
The Intenz Home label also offers plants grown using hydroponics, with the Clusia playing a key role in this concept. Hydroponics allows consumers to experience the unique and often hidden properties of plants. This method involves growing plants in water within glass containers. These plants are first tested in the Intenz Home Concept Store, where customers can purchase them. Customer feedback is then used to improve and develop the products.

Intenz Home

Under the Intenz Home label, no fewer than 30 different tropical plant species are offered. Intenz Home represents innovation, exclusivity, and uniqueness in plants. One of the standout plants in this collection is the Clusia rosea Princess, an exclusive species that helps businesses stand out in the market.

Green

as a lifestyle
The need and desire for a more sustainable lifestyle are growing every day. Green plants play an essential role in this. Not only does their natural color evoke nature, but they also contribute to improving air quality. By purifying the air, they create a healthier atmosphere at home, in the workplace, and even in schools. These benefits make green plants valuable elements for a pleasant and sustainable environment.

Commitment

to sustainability
For the fifth time, VDE Plant has assessed its environmental impact — an impact that continues to decrease with each evaluation. This process enables the company to gain greater insight into its ecological footprint, both upstream and downstream in the production chain. For VDE Plant, sustainability is seen as essential for securing its future and that of generations to come.

Concrete actions for a greener future

To reduce its environmental impact, VDE Plant has implemented numerous initiatives. Regarding plant protection, the company follows the philosophy: "Biological when possible, chemical when necessary", ensuring biological methods are always prioritized before considering chemical products.

In addition, VDE Plant takes several other measures to minimize its ecological footprint:

  • Waste separation;

  • Rainwater collection;

  • 100% recycled cultivation pots;

  • Energy savings thanks to double-layer roof panels in the greenhouse;

  • Climate zones to optimize energy needs;

  • Lastly, the company holds the MPS certification, demonstrating its active commitment to the environment.
